This collaborative research group investigates pig behaviour and welfare, sharing expertises in the domains for collaboration, and using harmonized study designs across institutions. Through collaborative studies, the group aims at increasing knowledge about pigs and boars. Through shared protocols and open methodologies, the group seeks to generate robust, reproducible evidence that can be confidently compared across research settings

This subgroups aims to facilitate the exchange of educational resources and teaching materials related to pig welfare, while fostering a collaborative community of practice among educators. By promoting knowledge sharing/learning resources, pedagogical innovation/practices, and mutual support, the subgroup seeks to improve the quality, consistency, and impact of pig welfare education.

The Integrative outputs group brings together researchers interested in pig-related topics to synthesize existing knowledge and help shape the direction of the field. The group provides a collaborative platform for developing reviews, meta-analyses, opinion papers, and consensus-based outputs. Our goal is to strengthen scientific impact through collective expertise, while also identifying key knowledge gaps and stimulating new research directions.
Leaders: Mathilde Coutant and Séverine Parois
The Networking subgroup brings together members interested in building, maintaining, and strengthening the ManyPigs research community. The group provides a structured framework for connecting researchers, integrating new members, and supporting collaboration across disciplines, career stages, and geographic regions. Our goal is to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and well-connected network that enables productive collaborations and sustained engagement over the long term.
Leaders: Céline Tallet and Jen-Yun Chou
The Outreach subgroup aims to stimulate and facilitate outreach activities to wider interested parties such as pig producers, farm and laboratory staff and zoo keepers to increase the global impact of research findings through accessible materials, cross-border knowledge exchange, dissemination and translation (except teaching material). We would like to encourage knowledge mobilisation, global accessibility to practice-oriented resources and in the long term, engage more interested parties and build a wider network. The resources will include training materials, management protocols, validated protocols and technical briefs.
Leaders: Jen-Yun Chou, Mathilde Coutant and Megan Lucas
The News subgroup aims to curate and share timely, relevant news and updates related to pig welfare, animal welfare, education, and practice. We will highlight the latest research and publications in pig behaviour and welfare, as well as current media stories, events, and professional opportunities relevant to the field. News will be shared through the ManyPigs Teams channel and further disseminated via our social media platforms and website. By doing so, we hope to keep the ManyPigs community informed, connected, and engaged with both scientific advances and practical developments in the field.
